Israel launches more 'airstrikes' in Syria
Syria state media reports of Israeli airstrikes targeting several military positions.

Israeli warplanes struck areas in and around the Syrian capital, setting off a series of explosions as they targeted a shipment of highly accurate, Iranian-made guided missiles believed to be on their way to Lebanon's Hezbollah group, officials and activists said.

Syria's state media on Sunday reported that Israeli missiles struck a military and scientific research center near the Syrian capital and caused casualties.

The attack, the second in three days, signaled a sharp escalation of Israel's involvement in Syria's bloody civil war.

"The new Israeli attack is an attempt to raise the morale of the terrorist groups which have been reeling from strikes by our noble army," Syrian television said, referring to recent offensives by the forces of Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president, against the armed opposition.

A Western intelligence source confirmed the attack to The Associated Press, saying the target of Sunday's strike was a shiptment of advanced guided Iranian-made missiles believed to be on their way to Lebanon's group Hezbollah.

Video footage uploaded onto the Internet by activists showed a huge ball of fire rising into the night sky.

Bunker buster

They should give it a fancy paint job. Also, maybe add one of those sound recordings used in Hallmark cards.

They could get Zooey to redo her cotton ad song...

Woke up today it was a another lovey day to watch the bomb rise and fall again from my window. The touch, the feel, the blasting of our lives.

Syria: Attack on military facility was a 'declaration of war' by Israel
updated 5:41 PM EDT, Sun May 5, 2013

Damascus, Syria (CNN) -- A series of massive explosions illuminated the dark sky over Damascus early Sunday, igniting renewed claims that Israel has launched attacks into the war-torn country.
Syria's government said the explosions were the second Israeli airstrike in three days. The latest target, officials said, was a military research facility outside the Syrian capital. A top Syrian official told CNN in an exclusive interview that the attack was a "declaration of war" by Israel.

Syrian authorities vowed to retaliate against Israel but did not specify what action they would take.

UN chief calls for maximum calm and restraint after reported Israeli air strikes in Syria

5 May 2013 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is gravely concerned about reports of air strikes in Syria by the Israeli Air Force, according to a statement from his spokesperson, which stressed that the United Nations does not have details of the reported incidents nor is in a position to independently verify that they took place.

“The Secretary-General calls on all sides to exercise maximum calm and restraint, and to act with a sense of responsibility to prevent an escalation of what is already a devastating and highly dangerous conflict,” Mr. Ban's spokesperson said in the statement.

Israel has in the past gotten the best of it's enemy. I have the feeling the odds are getting a bit more even. Something will snap and break, sooner than later.
