Chanukah commemorates the Jewish victory over the Greek occupation of Israel 2300 years ago. So it's all about freedom and the right to self determination. It's a very good day, a day of hope. Unfortunately- then came the Romans and then the diaspora followed by a whole series of really shitty events... Yikes.
