"If the North Korean regime continues to pursue its nuclear and missile capabilities and ignore severe economic difficulties of its people, it will bring about more severe sanctions and diplomatic isolation. It should also realize that it will hasten its self-destruction," the country's Foreign Ministry said.
Would have already happened if the world gave a crap. Change happens when the elite power players feel threatened.

North Korean Missile Test Brings Temporary Unity in East Asia
TOKYO — The missile that North Korea test-fired from a submarine off its east coast on Wednesday momentarily brought together three nations that have recently had reasons to squabble.

At a previously scheduled meeting in Tokyo, the foreign ministers of the three nations — China, Japan and South Korea — criticized the missile test, which appeared to demonstrate a significant advance in North Korea’s efforts to build a harder-to-detect means to strike American and allied forces. The missile flew 310 miles toward Japan, much farther than previous tests.

Tensions between the three countries have risen in recent months: Chinese vessels have repeatedly entered disputed waters surrounding a group of Japanese-controlled islands in the East China Sea, setting off protests from Japan. Tokyo opposed a visit this month by South Korean lawmakers to islands both nations claims. And China has harshly criticized South Korea’s agreement to host an American-built advanced missile defense system that the Chinese believe could be used against their missiles.

Floods Hit North Korea, Killing Dozens And Stranding Thousands

More than 11,000 people were forced from their homes.

SEOUL/BEIJING (Reuters) - Heavy rain in North Korea killed 40 people, stranded thousands in flash floods and caused “massive” damage on the weekend, the International Federation of the Red Cross said and North Korean media said.

More than 11,000 people were forced from their homes or otherwise affected by the floods, which hit the northeastern city of Rajin, near the border with Russia and China, on Saturday and Sunday, Hler Gudjonsson, a spokesman for the Red Cross in Beijing told Reuters.

Rajin is the capital of the Rason Special Economic Zone in North Hamgyong Province.

“It rained really hard, and fast. On Saturday morning the city was flooded. Cars were wading through water like boats,” a source who was in area when it flooded told Reuters.

It was not clear what impact the rain would have in a country that said in June it was suffering from its worst drought in a century. South Korea said in July some rain had fallen in the North, easing conditions.

South Korea: North Korea conducts fifth nuclear test
North Korea says a nuclear warhead explosion test was conducted in a nuclear research center located at its northern test site, according to a broadcast from North Korea Television, KCTV.

The KCTV presenter said the test showed the nuclear warhead "has been standardized to be able to be mounted on strategic ballistic rockets. "That would enable North Korea to "produce at will and as many as it wants a variety of smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power."

...

'Absolutely unacceptable'
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters Friday that if North Korea had conducted another nuclear test it was "absolutely unacceptable."
"We must lodge a strong protest," he said.
Concern has been growing that North Korea is testing weapons at an unprecedented pace this year, said CNN Seoul correspondent Paula Hancocks.
In addition to January's nuclear test, North Korea in March claimed to have miniaturized nuclear warheads and has tested several ballistic missiles, including some launched from a submarine.

Oh the hype.

Washington (CNN)Within hours of North Korea's nuclear test Friday, it had become a political weapon in the US.
The test -- Pyongyang's fifth and most powerful -- had enough force to "rip the heart out of a city," one expert said. It marks one more step in North Korea's efforts to develop the missiles and miniaturized warheads needed to reach its perceived enemies. And it raises the possibility that if North Korea succeeds, it will look for black market buyers for its lethal goods.

If that is what intelligence believes then NK's days are numbered.

U.S. Flies Bombers Over South Korea In Show Of Force To North Korea
Days after North Korea conducted its most powerful nuclear test yet, two U.S. bombers flew over South Korea in a display of force — a warning to Pyongyang and reassurance to Seoul.

"U.S. and South Korean fighter jets escorted the bombers in their low-altitude flight over South Korea's Osan Air Base ... about an hour from the border between North and South Korea," NPR's Elise Hu reports. She says the supersonic B-1B Lancers are based in Guam.

On Friday morning local time, North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test — the second such test this year. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff estimated it was Korea's largest-ever nuclear test, Elise reports. The isolated nation has also conducted several other missile and rocket tests within the past year, at what Elise calls an "unprecedented rate."

The tests have prompted international condemnation — again, and with little apparent consequence. Strengthened sanctions on Pyongyang haven't discouraged Kim Jong Un from building up a nuclear program. In fact, as Elise reported last week, international censure and sanctions "only seem to have strengthened" Kim's resolve.

North Korea's worried neighbors, South Korea and Japan, have been calling for a stronger response, Elise says.

So they think that B-1 is all the US has?

The boomers are what they should be worried over. Might be a major over sight.

But after all, NK is the one bluffing.
