Threatening “serious consequences” if the United States continues to accuse it of launching a cyberattack against Sony Pictures, North Korea on Saturday proposed a joint investigation into the assault on the entertainment company, according to news reports.

U.S. analysts view the proposal as typical posturing by the North Korean government in an effort to appear sincerely interested in unraveling the origins of the attack, knowing full well that the United States would never agree to a joint investigation, according to the Associated Press.

“Whoever is going to frame our country for a crime should present concrete evidence,” a spokesman for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency on Saturday, according to CNN. “America’s childish investigation result and its attempt to frame us for this crime shows their hostile tendency towards us.”

In a statement released Friday, the FBI announced that the agency had collected enough evidence to determine that the North Korean government — using “destructive malware” and a top-level Sony employee’s computer credentials — is responsible for the attack. The agency said the tools used in the attack are similar to those used in a North Korean attack on South Korean banks and media outlets in March 2013.

“Though the FBI has seen a wide variety and increasing number of cyber intrusions, the destructive nature of this attack, coupled with its coercive nature, sets it apart,” the agency’s statement said. “North Korea’s actions were intended to inflict significant harm on a U.S. business and suppress the right of American citizens to express themselves. Such acts of intimidation fall outside the bounds of acceptable state behavior. “

The spokesman for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry called the American allegations “groundless slander” and said he knows how to prove the country’s innocence, according to the AP. “The U.S. should bear in mind that it will face serious consequences in case it rejects our proposal for joint investigation and presses for what it called countermeasures while finding fault with” North Korea, the spokesman said.

Screw NK and it's boy leader. The US government won't be folding like a cheap suit as Sony did to their threats.

North Korean leader ordered aunt to be poisoned, defector says

Seoul, South Korea (CNN)—Mr. Park shifts uncomfortably in his seat. As one of the most senior North Korean officials to ever defect, he was preparing to tell the ugly truth about the regime he served faithfully for decades.

This is not his real name; he wants his identity hidden for fear of retribution against friends and family still in Pyongyang. It's not surprising when you hear what he has to say.

His first allegation is shocking. He claims North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered his own aunt, a blood relative, to be poisoned.

"On May 5th or 6th of last year," says Park. "Kim Jong Un ordered his aunt, Kim Kyong Hui, to be killed. Only his bodyguard unit, Unit 974, knew this -- now senior officials also know she was poisoned."

Park says Kim Jong Un wanted to silence his aunt, who complained angrily for months after her husband and presumed No.2 in the country, Jang Song Thaek, was killed in December 2013.

Kim Kyok-sik, North Korean General Tied to Attacks, Dies at 77

SEOUL, South Korea — Kim Kyok-sik, the North Korean general who South Korean officials have said was behind two deadly attacks on South Korea in 2010, died on Sunday. He was 77.

The cause was acute respiratory failure, The Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party, reported on Monday.

General Kim was the commander of a North Korean Army corps whose units were accused by South Korea in the sinking of a South Korean Navy ship, the Cheonan, in which 46 sailors were killed in March 2010. General Kim’s front-line units were also accused of shelling a South Korean border island, Yeonpyeong, that year, killing two marines and two civilians.

North Korea executes defence chief for napping at military event: South Korean media

North Korea has executed its defence chief on treason charges, Seoul's National Intelligence Service was quoted as telling lawmakers, in the latest of a series of high-level purges since Kim Jong Un took power after his father's death in 2011.

Hyon Yong Chol, who heads the isolated country's military, was purged and then executed by firing squad with an antiaircraft gun, watched by hundreds of people, South Korean media reported on Wednesday, citing the NIS's comments to a parliamentary panel.

Hyon, who spoke at a security conference in Moscow in April, was said to have shown disrespect to Kim by dozing off at a military event, media said, citing the agency briefing.

The execution comes after South Korea's spy agency said late last month that Kim ordered the execution of 15 senior officials this year as punishment for challenging his authority

North Korea blasts propaganda audio into South as U.S. military exercises start

Tit for tat

Last week, South Korea resumed a psychological warfare campaign using a similar broadcast method, the first time it has done so in over a decade.

South Korea said its campaign was in retaliation for landmine blasts on August 4 that severely injured two of its soldiers.

North Korea denies it planted the landmines on a route patrolled by South Korean troops in the demilitarized zone that separates the two nations.

A week after the landmine attack, the South restarted its propaganda broadcasts, infuriating North Korea, which has in the past threatened to blow up the huge speakers its neighbor set up at the demilitarized zone.

The U.S.-led United Nations Command said its investigation found that North Korea planted the landmines.

"We are detecting unusual movement from North Korean submarines, in that they have left their bases and also North Korea has doubled artillery power along the border," said an official from Seoul's Defense Ministry.

"This clearly shows North Korea's dual tactic of both peace and war strategies towards Seoul," the official said.

"We continue to maintain the highest level of military alertness and are paying close attention to North Korea's military movements."

A South Korean defense official said about 70 percent of the North's submarines were not in their usual positions. However, it was not clear how many submarines that represented.

...

The crisis escalated on Thursday when the North fired four shells into the South, according to Seoul, which responded with a barrage of 29 artillery rounds. North Korea declared a "quasi-state of war" in front-line areas and made an ultimatum for Seoul to halt its broadcasts.

That deadline passed on Saturday without military clash.

I suspect that the head korean doesn't realize that if he start some real stuff his days will be numbered ( a low number). Pretty sure the US navy knows where each of those 'subs' are located at this point.
