The Turkish Coup Is Live on Facebook

o find out how the attempted coup in Turkey is unfolding, people can turn to Twitter. But to see what it’s like on the ground, livestreaming platforms like Facebook Live and Periscope are delivering—and viewers across the world can see, in real time, where those livestreamed videos are coming from.

In recent weeks, people have used Facebook Live to broadcast several high-profile incidents including the shooting death of Philando Castile, and the sniper siege of the police officers during a protest in Dallas, Texas. But while Diamond Reynolds’ video of Castile’s death served to broadcast an isolated police interaction to millions, and the Dallas videos showed the immediate aftermath and confusion on the city’s streets, the videos in Turkey are happening as the coup unfolds. With many of them depicting city streets full of protesters, these videos aren’t just testament to an unfolding coup—but part of the protest themselves.

Watch the livestream of videos here.

Never miss a chance to use a current event to make money with commercials and ads.

I remember the days before greed hijacked the WWW and internet applications.
