Wildfire explodes in San Bernardino County

Post by Royal » Wed Aug 17, 2016 8:17 am

NEAR CAJON PASS, Calif. -- A small brush fire in San Bernardino County exploded to a full-fledged wildfire in just a matter of hours Tuesday, threatening communities and bringing traffic on I-15 to a standstill.

The Bluecut Fire began in the area of Interstate 15 and State Route 138, near the community of Cajon Pass, just outside of San Bernardino. Video from above via helicopter shows homes and structures burning.

Mandatory evacuations are being ordered and travelers are encouraged to steer clear of the area. I-15, the main route between San Bernardino and Las Vegas, has multiple closures.

San Diego County fire crews are heading north to help out and they're bringing heavy firefighting equipment with them.
