We Need To Make The 'Edit' Button Permanent On TD Forum!...

I needed to make an ammendment to a thread I posted yesterday but the 'EDIT' button wasn't there! "WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO IT!!?", I wondered!

It looks like the phpBB Forum Software has been altered by Owner-Dude to switch off the 'EDIT' button 24 hours after a thread/post is put up onto the board, for soooome reason...

THIS SHOULD BE CHANGED! IT ISN'T A GOOD IDEA, EVEN IF WE HAVE THIEVES KNOCKING-AROUND, IT ISN'T!

The edit is set for 1 hour. After that you need to post a revision.

I think most people understand that some people will rewrite posts in a debate, etc. to suit their position or attack another. Also other people may not know to go back in time to read a change.

Any proposal to support more than 1 hour?

^ Dude...I DO understand your argumentation, actually, and I had thought that it may be due to something such asyou pointed out. It's just that 1: My Droid sucks dolphin balls and I have to CONSTANTLY proof-read EVERYTHING I type and post otherwise my posts will remain repleat with cock-ups! And 2: Every other forum leaves the 'EDIT' button in the text box and they generally have a lot more input from users, so wouldn't THEY be more inclined take the 'EDIT' button out, themselves?!...

I don't wan to argue with you on this one because your points ARE valid and far beit from me to annoy you with such demands, dude.

..I still miss having the option to make legitimate edits, though.

Are you saying it takes over an hour to proof and edit a post? I can make it 2 hours since there isn't much abuse going on at this time.

I use to think like new guy, but eventually saw the value in the logic.

Much like a pen, if you don't want to make a mistake, think about it more...

Yes, a couple of trips around the block does that often.

Nope. What I'm saying is that, apart from being human and liable to making errors, I use a dumb Droid that doesn't type well ATALL! It is impossible to never make mistakes even for smart folks, nevermind folks like myself. I often only notice such errors HOURS later (even a whole day later, sometimes!). For me, as one whose means of typing is very inferior, it would be very practical and user-friendly to be ale to click an 'EDIT' button whensoever I detect human/Droid errors that I make when posting here; but for the sake of keepin' Owner-Dude happy I'll just forget all about the whole issue.

...Of course, it'll now mean having to peruse EVERY single word I tye before I hit the 'POST' button, now...

^ I've done it before so I know I can do it again, it's just not as easy for a Droid-user as it is for all you old-school typewriter people.

...and to think...I threw my old 1950s typewriter out only last week!

I'm sure it does, Owner-Dude. It also makes one who suffers regular bouts of dizziness very quesy, though.

Remember, You can still reread after posting and fix typos.
