My ride in the Zipulator
First if, let me say that there was a good reason that the Martian was exiled if housekeeping is any consideration. When I first stepped through the little glowing portal hanging in the cool night air of Denver the first sensation that struck me was the odor. Scattered all about the ladder as I climbed down into the darkness of the Martian's subgalactic contraption was the detritus of thousands of research and collection expeditions undertaken during the last 300 Earth years. None of it properly cataloged or filed in any manner approaching rational semblance- but rather piled high and deep, helter skelter and requiring leaps and tumbles to traverse. The remains of Sacco and Vanzetti tossed in a cosmic salad with the bones of Juan de la Cruz and hundreds of empty slurpy cups and old shoes. And while this enormous pile of shit was nauseating, it was also exquisitely enlightening in a highly strange way.
