Charles' Gas Law

Post by Royal » Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:02 pm

On the other hand, the French balloonist Jacques Charles knew how to make "gas bags" soar to find truth.The gas law named in his honor states that the volume of gas varies directly with the absolute temperature (kelvins). THe law can be expressed as:

V = kT

Where V is the volume at constant pressure, T is the temperature, and k is the constant.

As the temperature of the gas increases, the gas molecules move more quickly and hit the walls of their container with more force- thus creating the volume of gas, assuming that the container volume is able to expand.

The Balloon Boy Rule - if a balloon gets away from it's mooring and then crashes, will a boy be inside the balloon.
