Best Way to Clean Hard Drive

I'm about to sell a PC. What's the best way to clean a hard drive in order to prevent a compromise of my personal information?

Put it in the dishwasher on the pots n pans setting with heated dry turned on.

Clamp it in a vice and drill a few 1/4 " holes through it.....then take it out to a long pier and throw it in the ocean.
