Pythagorean Theorem and Triangles

Post by Royal » Wed Feb 29, 2012 7:01 am

Although Pythagoras is often credited with the formulation of the Pythagorean theorem, evidence suggest that the theorem was developed by the Hindu mathematician Baudhayana centuries earlier around 800 B.C. in his book Baudhayana Sulba Sutra. Pythagorean Triangles were probably even known earlier to the Babylonians.

Persian Mathematician Nasr al-Din al-Tusi (1201-1274) presented a version of Euclid's proof of the Pythagorean theorem. Al-tusi was a prolific mathematician, astronomer, biologist, chemist, philosopher, physician, and theologian.
