The Simulation

Post by Pigeon » Sun Oct 12, 2014 5:44 pm

There is currently no proven physical significance of the Planck length; it is, however, a topic of theoretical research.

Since the Planck length is so many orders of magnitude smaller than any current instrument could possibly measure, there is no way of examining it directly.

According to the generalized uncertainty principle (a concept from speculative models of quantum gravity), the Planck length is, in principle, within a factor of order unity, the shortest measurable length – and no theoretically known improvement in measurement instruments could change that.

It is the resolution of the output of the simulation, which is our reality.

Can the simulated change the simulation?

That would seem to be based on the simulation design itself.

A simple example.

Let's say a forum is the simulation. The posts are the simulated reality. One forum might display white text, a certain font size, on a black background.

Now let's say the simulation is modified. What we think of as BB Code is added. Now the posts can also change how the post appear as for as text color, size, background. The posts (the simulation member) is changing the reality in the simulation.

But it is only within the design of the simulation itself.

Or, what about a compiler or interpreter that allows complete programs to be created in the simulation and then executed to create a reality. It is still limited by the functionality of the system (simulation) it is within. The instruction set.

There does appear to be an "ask and you shall receive element".

Or sometimes creation upon a "thought".

Who is listening?

What about patches? What if the simulation is being changed, an ongoing work, just like a program or website. It might also be changed based on feedback from the reality, for whatever reason.

It all goes back to electricity.

I find the "human condition" interesting. Seems to be feeding some other's need. Electricity and/or entertainment.
