World Emissions of Carbon Dioxide Outpace Worst-Case Scenari

Post by Pigeon » Tue Nov 08, 2011 2:09 am

This doesn't sound good...

The global output of heat-trapping carbon dioxide jumped by the biggest amount on record in 2010, the U.S. Department of Energy calculated. A chart accompanying the study shows the breakdown by country. The new figures mean that levels of greenhouse gases are higher than the worst case scenario outlined by climate experts just four years ago. It is a 'monster' increase that is unheard of, said Gregg Marland, a professor of geology at Appalachian State University, who has helped calculate Department of Energy figures in the past. The question now among scientists is whether the future is the IPCC's worst case scenario or something more extreme.

Did you notice that chart referenced was from 2009. I suppose it means the main producer ratios have not changed.

Did not click the link. My cynical soul knows that one volcano puts out in ten minutes what mankind puts out in a decade.

China is a pretty smokey place. It's a sad state of affairs when a people is willing to trade it's air and water for trinkets.

Bet the head Chinamen don't live near the factories...

A report from China's Environmental Ministry reveals that one tenth of China's 1.22 million square kilometers of farmland are polluted with heavy metals and other toxins. The AFP lists 'lead, mercury and cancer-causing cadmium' and points to the rapid pace of China's industrialization as well as factories and their operators flouting regulations and laws. Cheap batteries and lead refineries are slowly turning China into a land where whole villages are poisoned (11 incidents so far this year). According to Human Rights Watch the government's response to this scourge is laughable. The poisoned are denied treatment and China's Environmental Ministry offers no possible help: 'The report documents how local authorities in contaminated areas have imposed arbitrary limits on access to blood lead testing, for example by permitting only people living within a small radius of a factory to be tested

Look on the bright side, there are too many of them anyway.

It's the lead, it's why they are so short but weigh too much.

Fukushima has too much radiation and China too much lead. I see a partnership opportunity.
