Adobe Acrobat problem - resolved

Post by Pigeon » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:09 pm

In case someone else gets bit.

Adobe Acrobat 6.0 would hang on the splash screen with a 'hangb1' error when starting. Great, what has happened now I think.

I appears that it creates many temp files and does not delete them. So over a period of 5 months, with not really heavy usage, it has created over 65,000 of these temp files.

They have a name like ???#### where the ??? are letters and the #### appears to be hex. I am guessing it is designed to go up through FFFF, which would be a value of 2^16.

Sure enough, the last file is named ???FFFF. Deleted these files and the program starts working again.

Nice post about Linear A. Someday someone will decipher it.
