Parrot Cichlid....
Re: Parrot Cichlid....
The perfect fish tank for Pam!
Re: Parrot Cichlid....
We had a tank when the daughter was little and she wanted this firemouth cicilid well we got it and it shared the tank with teh oscar for about three months then ate it... that cicilid got to be 9 inches across! HUGE! then the kid at the fish store bought it to put in a tank with another fish he had that was known to be aggressive thought they would do ok together and then the cicilid chased the fish out on to the floor..... so he got to keep his tank to him self and lived another 3 years getting up to 11 inches.

Hahaha that's crazy Ash, I had 3 gold severums that were about 7', I gave them to the fish store because they were trashing my tank..... some of those cichlids are very aggressive.
These Parrot ones are not..... so they say.

Re: Parrot Cichlid....
I just noticed something in my tank. All the different types of fish have kind of claimed an area that they hang out in. They don't seem to be territorial about it, if another species comes into their area, they move out of the way and wait for the other to leave before coming back, but they definitely stay within their own species in the various groups.
6 - Tinfoil Barbs (schooling fish and stay together at all times)
3 - Rasboras (also schooling but do venture apart every now and then)
2 - Tiger Gouramis (not schooling but tend to occupy the upper left back corner)
2 - Parrot Fish (new ones, not schooling but hang around each other a lot)
1 - Pleco (these are loner fish and not recommended to have more than 1)
Do you think they are racist?
