The Space Question: Is SpaceFaring Worth it?

With NASA dropped, what is to take the reigns of our space program. Many technologies have came from our space endeavors, so why stop now? Have we reached a threshold?

Forget NASA. In 500 years the former USA will be small fry in the history of near space exploration. For the political future, think Idiocracy.
