Japan may raise nuke accident severity level to highest 7
Re: Japan may raise nuke accident severity level to highest
That apologia aside- there will probably come a time, in the not so distant future, when elevated radioactivity in American milk and vegetables will become a reality. It simply has not happened yet. That's right...thank you
You're welcome.

The Nippon catastrophe is a world catastrophe.

I don't doubt it will guess worse before it gets better.....but it has only been a month and eventually the nuke disaster site will be buried.....
Yes..it is a catastrophe...but let's not give into fear mongering just yet.

HERRO Amerahkens.
Prese do not be arrarrmed. Only parceral melted down.

I wonder how many Nuclear melt downs can the world take. Each one seems to spread only a little bit world wide, but when a little bit has a half life of a million years each "little" amount adds up over time.

A disaster but still funny
Re: Japan may raise nuke accident severity level to highest
One of the most disturbing video's I've seen yet.....slow starting....

It does little good to ratchet up the hyperbole and hysteria....anarch wrote:when a little bit has a half life of a million years each "little" amount adds up over time.
While the element with the longest half life (uranium) measures it in billions of years, the radioactive particles released in accidents like Chernobyl and Fukushima have half lives measured at 30 years and 8 days. Sure, the site itself remains extremely nasty for a very long time; due to the constant release of radioactivity. But downwind or downstream affects won't be measured in "millions" of years.
Half-life of iodine 131, a dangerous radioactive isotope released in nuclear accidents: eight days
Half-life of cesium 137, another major radionuclide released in nuclear accidents: 30 years HERE

Why am I not understanding this????
I live in B.C., I thought surely we would have problems here before Eastern Canada would?? I searched for news on B.C. and there is nothing of any importance being reported.
I am a Geography idiot, I'll admit, but shouldn't B.C. have more of a threat than Ontario?
