COVID-19 Lockdown is Bringing Fathers Closer to Their Kids

COVID-19 pandemic puts a silver lining on Father's Day this year

It’s Father’s Day, a brave new day in a brave new world we are all currently living in. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly shaken up the status quo, and dads everywhere are in the midst of celebrating what many perceive a new type of Renaissance as the roles they play in their family’s lives today are certainly different from what they were several years ago – in some instances, several months ago.

Interesting to note Father’s Day also falls on the last day of Canadian Men’s Health Week, and several recent studys done in conjunction with the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation (CMHF) reveals some startling details on how the COVID lockdown has impacted on dads today.

The first study, conducted last month on behalf of CMHF showed there’s a silver lining in the current health crisis: 40% of those interviewed felt the lockdown has had a positive impact on their roles as fathers while many others felt their roles had changed – for the better.

First year he starts to shed a strong old man smell. Not a fun year to be cooped up.
