No wonder

Why is there so much suffering?

Think about how absolutely insane it is that there even is anything at all.

Then think about how out of everything there is, we just happen to be a conscious species with an entire planet of resources at our disposal.

And… just because… there has to be so much cruelty. But why?

Why must one thing be eaten for another to eat?

Out of all the possible ways things could have come into existence, it was violence from the get go.

Why all the suffering? From the ant to the elephant to entire galaxies being eviscerated by black holes in the dark empty vastness of space. Just, why?

AgentSmith to Morpheus: Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world. Where none suffered. Where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed that we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that as a species, human beings define their reality through misery and suffering. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this, the peak of your civilization.

The Matrix (1999)

The Matrix bases this on a previous human thought process in the first occurrence. *buzzer sound*

This simulation is testing some not so good realities.
