Pigeon, the place stunk. I wasn't down there very long, nor were we allowed very far in at first. I have a couple of friends who said the put up lights in the morgue sometime during that first week. There were body parts on tables, they told me. Literally pieces of bodies.

All I remember of the days and weeks to follow was the smell and how the streets of NY were empty.
