When all else fails, have the government inform it's patriotic citizens that all is well and to keep paying the banks.
do you still have the link to the book? Read the part about the Bankers Pool intervention. it will read like deja vu.

The bankers separated. Mr. Lamont faced a gathering of reporters in the Morgan offices. His face was grave, but his words were soothing.

His first sentence alone was one of the most remarkable understatements of all time.

[yb]"There has been a little distress selling on the Stock Exchange," said he, "and we have held a meeting of the heads of several financial institutions to discuss the situation. We have found that there are no houses in difficulty and reports from brokers indicate that margins are being maintained satisfactorily."[/yb]

He went on to explain that what had happened was [yb]due to a "technical condition of the market"[/yb] rather than to any fundamental cause.

Still using those lines today. I see they are sticking with a tried and true method.

Good liars keep it simple.

Fuck these guys.

It's a shame when you grow up and realize the system you've lived under and participated in is a sham and a con and you're one of the marks.

Elections are coming up. Let's get the changes to allow us to sell stock we don't own for our donations this time.

Absolutely nothing has changed. "Only Yesterday" is also "Just Tomorrow."
