I wonder how much of that area affects the over all output of rice production. If it's large enough to affect the price of rice which is a staple in a country that is all ready affected by unemployment.
Japan forbids the importation of rice, at least it used to. (Price supports)

I was actually going to post that same thing cause that's what I always heard, but I thought I would check first and was surprized by this:

yak's milk is only pink for the first few days it gives birth to a calf. Reason is it's tinged with blood which gives the milk a higher protein level. After the first few days, the milk returns to just white.
