Are they the little red squirrels or the big grey ones?

I"m sorry, BE, but I intentionally chase the little red squirrels away from my yard (for all the good it does). They wreak havoc on the bird feeder.

Grey ones of all sizes. Very cute and sweet.

I love the grey ones. They are the wise ones of the squirrel world.

They're sneaking peanuts to the cats when you're not looking.

So, out of curiosity, I read up on the little red squirrels and heartily wish I hadn't cause now I feel sorry for the poor little beggars and will feel a pang of utter guilt if I chase them out of the yard.

Out of the three native squirrel species in N.A., the little red squirrels have the worst chances for survival. Only 22% of them make it to the first year. Mother red squirrels are one of the few mammalians that parcel up their territory for their young if there is no available territory for them to branch out into.

:(

So, the bird feeder has become open territory. All hail the red squirrel.
