Digital Nonsense Kills Record

After Al Gore gave too much money to himself for carbon credits causing near ice age conditions in the north, the would be new record was robbed by digitaltitis, the disease like religion that drives people to replace a dependable useful tool with a battery operated temperamental gadget.
Weather stations used to use glass mercury filled tubes called reversing thermometers. As dependable as God, their only drawback was their lack of gizmatronic coolness. The Jim River Alaska weather station replaced their dependable glass tube with an electronic doodad that croaked at the critical moment before the temperature fell to it's record all time low. I'll bet they wished they did not give the old tube to the local Eskimo kindergarten class to play with.
