Fukushima and the future

Has any plan to handle Fukushima been developed? Is it still just TEPCO screwing around and scratching their head.

Wondering how to cool it enough to allow it to be covered with concrete. They have been creating huge amounts of contaminated water.

Hope the world learns something from this event.

The San Onofre power plant (1 hr north of San Diego) has been shut down due to engineering concerns and tube leaks. I'm sure Fukushima raised the concern.

I have a friend in the industry who told me that long before the disaster he was sent to Fukushima by the US to show them how we now build long term (centuries) dry storage of the waste. The Japs thumbed their noses at him at said it was cheaper to just pump water into pools.

How is a waste storage issue resolved with a hydro system?

Keeping the stuff cool so it doesn't go into 'glow mode'.

I have this feeling that Fuku is a worse situation down the road then is being believed. Major mess that a corporation should not have been left in charge. And people so often thing regulations are so bad.
