"Last week NFL owners voted 30-2 in favor of a one-year trial in which Point After Touchdown tries will be snapped from the 15-yard line. The two-point conversion line of scrimmage will remain at the two-yard line, thereby incentivizing the riskier but far more interesting play. By taking a humdrum play and injecting some uncertainty into it, the league can jazz up the post-touchdown, pre-commercial-kickoff-commercial sequence and make America’s most popular game more fun."

If they wanted to make it more fun, they should just remove the short kick in the first place. There could be a 50 or 60 yard kick option for extra points. That's fun since there's not enough long kicks in football.

I would make the pass or run a requirement which allows the defense an opportunity to capitalize on a long run back for the same amount of points or more. This will then force the long kick if the offense is feeling risk averse.

Then a new quote will be born "There are no easy points in football".

"nerd rules"

Ah ha ... revenge of he nerds

Nerds were abused by jocks for decades. Now they have brought analysis and tech into the game because it's all about money. Just a little pay back.
