Some things to note:

-Russians went into Crimea because of propaganda exaggerating conflict. Many young people signed up. Crimea invasion increased approval numbers for the President. Most likely Putin was riding high on this takeover that didn't get critical condemnation.

-Georgia war lasted 5 days, mostly the West (Bush) condemned the decision. Attack was enough to increase a strong perception to his people. SIMILAR GOALS could be in the works here. Crimea annexation took 20 days, could be a marker for how current war will be decided if he's not scared off the long lasting and devastating economic sanctions.


- Putin has roots in a 9/11ish start with Chechnya bombings. Conspiracies surround how these bombings lead to his rise and takeover of Chechnya (a territory now invading Ukraine). hmmm... didn't Hitler conscript troops from conquered territories to invade their neighbors?

-History shows Russian oligarchs that disagreed with Putin was eliminated. Primary reason why he is not meet with much opposition. Western world perception and economic sanctions come second place to his decisions

-Russian law provides no limit on number on times Putin can become President. A person can get two successive 4 year terms but must stop, then run again after four years. This easily leads to puppet leaders and long-term uninterrupted strategies towards neighbors.

- Putin used psychological warfare against it's citizens using strategies like publicly announcing that protests were organized by the government to create confusion among citizens on what is real and what is not real. This may even be applicable today.

-Video from 2017 said that Putin's ace card after the invasion of Crimea could be Trump to lift sanctions and weaken Nato. History shows Trump favorable stance on Putin and hesitation to arm Ukraine. Trump plans to run again...
