What is Evil?

I'm wondering... what the ESSENCE of evil?

Is it ignorance from which evil springs?

Fear?

Anger?

Selfishness?

Or is it something more profound than those things?

Is evil a black tile? and good a white tile?

Or is that too much of a simplification, as well?

Can evil be simple?

I don't know. I'm asking because I'm ignorant of the answer.

But why those things? How did they come about?

Systematic physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse of a powerless child is an effective way of creating a severaly damaged and in some cases also very dangerous and evil human being.
