Re: Mississippi River Old River Control Structure
Not a lot of talk about current flood level and expected storms... is the season over in your area?
1993 record was set in August. I'm assuming river was already high to reach that 1993 record.

Weather say more rain in the Arkansas, Missouri and Miss flood areas.
We may get some here.
We may get some here.

Read that it's not going to go up the highest flood crest this year, and the river will continue dropping.Pigeon wrote:Weather say more rain in the Arkansas, Missouri and Miss flood areas.

Think the material issue is how much sediment is produced down stream because of the floods. Sediment deposits are high because it's picking up all the loose dirt during the flood stage.
This has implications for the rains in the next seasons.
Re: Mississippi River Old River Control Structure
The sediment buildup has always been an unknown to some extent.
Re: Mississippi River Old River Control Structure
Does the Army Core of Engineers have an enima solution for the sediment?
Re: Mississippi River Old River Control Structure
All that can be done is dredge it out.
