In response to historic drought conditions, the Southern Nevada Water Authority began a race against time as it took on one of the world’s most challenging tunneling projects, Intake No. 3. Nearly seven years later, the third intake is operational and delivering water from the bottom of Lake Mead.

Seems excessive just to pump water from the bottom of a lake. I wish Elon could comment on this.
