Cost of Bin Laden Deception: US$3 Trillion
Re: Cost of Bin Laden Deception: US$3 Trillion
Government hires people to build the war machine. Just think if these government bozos had to actually do it, there would be no more wars. They don't have the skills.

No, TT, you're right. There is A LOT of private company involvement in it.
Here is a good documentary on Google Video called Iraq For Sale: The War Profiteers.
BE recommended this book called War is a Racket by Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler. It's about the profits from past wars, as it was written a while ago. You can DL the free book here in PDF format.

The only thing we make here that still sells and may be a quality product are weapons, tools and movies. That's it.
Oil companies have been making record profits every quarter just about for the last 4-5 years. RECORD PROFITS. YET, we give them subsidies up the kazoo!
Weapons companies are not owned by the US govt, Pam. Although, the US govt might be owned by the weapons companies.

Re: Cost of Bin Laden Deception: US$3 Trillion
Someone told me once that money isn't evil. It's neutral. Okay, that may be true...
But if an entity which oversees a large mass of people controls this neutral medium of energy exchange... then money is never neutral. The energy flow is always directed towards the benefit of the continuation of the controlling entity's survival and growth.
Money is not neutral, no matter what anyone tells you. The very existence of a medium of energy exchange replacing direct communication between people of similar interests means that those similar interests have to have the approval of the middle-man, which in this case is the monetary system. It has to be economically possible to create a cohesive movement, but the very existence of this economic infrastructure cuts a web of instability and fluctuation throughout ANY group of like-minded individuals intent on accomplishing a goal.
Since money favors the larger controlling entity which controls it, whatever the larger controlling entity wants accomplished will be accomplished. There is no "using the system against itself", because if the system does not reward said philosophy with its lifeblood, said philosophy will be defeated. It's all a matter of manipulating the web of deceit. That's ALL the monetary system is. There is NO economic philosophy which will work other than eliminating the monetary system.
What will that look like? None of us know because none of us have tried... but I'll tell ya what.... if you take away the monetary system, the economy, you need to replace it with a universally accepted mode of living and interacting.
What will THAT look like? We don't know because none of us have witnessed a philosophy that's universally agreed upon.
Is there one? There must be one, because all of us are human, and if it's not the end of the world, then it's the beginning of entering a new territory which we really have never been in before, and not many, if any of us, will understand how to behave within that new paradigm.... but we'll slowly slowly have to allow the old system to fall away. Those who've made it their careers to figure out what the economy is going to do next have dug their own graves, because what the economy is going to do next is lay down and die.
It's not a mystery to those who accept it. The more it fails, the more chaos will be instigated in order to keep people clinging to it. One day, it will all just crumble, and people won't be able to do anything with it. It will just be dead.
What will happen then? Will any mode of preparation really help?
Dark times to be alive.
