Interesting you brought up scrying.

Had a dream a couple days ago about entering a dream through a bowl of water...
The visions that scryers say they see may come from variations in the medium. If the medium is water (hydromancy), then the visions may come from the color, ebb and flow, or ripples produced by pebbles dropped in a pool.

All of the above are being studied for use in all of the above with varying degrees of success.

Well, I guess you could try to establish telepathic contact with Mr. Randall Munroe or astral travel into his brain and dig around for answers. But it's probably a lot easier to just send him an email. He sounds really cool, by the way.
I'm just this guy, you know? I'm a CNU graduate with a degree in physics. Before starting xkcd, I worked on robots at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia. As of June 2007 I live in Massachusetts. In my spare time I climb things, open strange doors, and go to goth clubs dressed as a frat guy so I can stand around and look terribly uncomfortable. At frat parties I do the same thing, but the other way around.

This might have been a product of UFOer's research; it's about as accurate.
