Ohtani’s money and bookies

Post by Pigeon » Thu Mar 21, 2024 1:58 pm

If we’re giving the most charitable interpretation to this, it sounds like Ippei had raked up a lot of gambling debt and Shohei was made aware of it and decided to pay it off for his friend.

ESPN caught wind of these wire transfers going to bookies in Shohei’s name and Shohei’s camp offered to have Ippei give them an interview to clear up the situation.

Ippei explained his gambling debt, how Shohei decided to help him out, wasn’t happy with the gambling addiction and wanted to help him curb the habit - and that’s all she wrote.

Then Shohei’s lawyers caught wind of what was happening and said ‘what the fuck why would you ever implicate Ohtani in this, what the fuck are you doing spike the interview deny everything’

And now the story is that Shohei knew nothing and Ippei embezzled the money behind his back.

Sounds like Ohtani didn't have his network big enough to expand the degrees of separation...

Ippei Mizuhara, 39, who has been standing alongside Ohtani for the entirety of 29-year-old phenom's six years in MLB, was paid up to half a million dollars a year to serve as an English translator for the native Japanese speaker, before being fired Wednesday, according to ESPN.

Interpreters can also double as personal assistants, carrying out duties that are unrelated to baseball or action on the field.

Should get new accountants also. No one notices all that money disappearing?
