Google Gives the US Government Access To Gmail

But it's free email...

Google condemns the Chinese Government for censoring its results, and Australia for planning to do the same. Meanwhile, its lawyers and security experts have told employees to "be intentionally vague about whether or not we've given access to end-user accounts," according to engineer James Tarquin, hinting that Google may be sharing its data with the US government. Perhaps Australia's most hated communications minister Steven Conroy could be right in his criticism of Google's privacy record after all

That's just great. Is nothing sacred anymore? I use to like Gmail. They let me send 25meg files.

I guess I be getting a visit from Uncle Sam.

No one in the main ever seems to question Google's agenda. I mean they have become this behemoth and they seem to be for the moment, unstoppable.

I run my mail through the mail servers at my hosting company. Use POP3 and download it off the server at receipt. So except at transit, my in and out mail are not out there. Drawback as that to be used from multiple locations I would need to leave it on the servers.

They (hosting) still could look through the files. At least it isn't a one stop for big brother to check out most of the world.
