The first report was that he had use a truck load of fertilizer as a bomb. At the time I had an "unlimited" explosive permit, had used explosives all my life, and considered myself an expert. I said there was no way the material he used could have done what it did. All other explosive experts of my acquaintance agreed. It was not until after the trial, and after McVeigh was conveniently silenced by lethal injection that the facts about the bomb (and other facts) were released.

1. It was not a fertilizer bomb. McVeigh had been coached how to build the bomb by an unknown bar patron. (An undercover Fed.) The bomb was in reality a truck load of propane bottles wrapped in high speed detonator cord, and the space between filled with ANFO. That my friends is a military thermobaric bomb. McVeigh was not smart enough to pull that off by himself.

2. Twice McVeigh called the office of the BATF in the building and warned them of the explosion. When the bomb went off, not a single BATF employee was in the building. That simple fact proves federal involvement. The burning of the Reichstag was very effective in solidifying central authority, and the feds, (and Clinton?) certainly that fat cow attorney general, knew that.
